City of Sunland Park Breaks Ground on Calle Carrosel and Calle Obregón
Fourth phase of Anapra street reconstruction brings new pavement, sidewalks, drainage and a new water line to two neighborhood streets.
SUNLAND PARK, N.M. The City of Sunland Park broke ground today on the Anapra Phase IV Roadway, Drainage, and Utility Infrastructure Project, which rebuilds Calle Carrosel and Calle Obregón from the ground up. Residents joined Mayor Javier Perea, City Councilor Maria Burciaga, City staff and the project team under a tent at Mender Park for the ceremony.
The project replaces the existing street surface with new 6-inch concrete pavement on a compacted base, adds curb and gutter on both streets, and builds 4-foot ADA-compliant sidewalks with concrete driveway pads. Below the street, about 1,050 feet of new 8-inch water line will be installed with five new valves and two new fire hydrants, 18 water services will be replaced to the meter, and seven sewer manholes will be rehabilitated. A rock retaining wall and riprap will manage stormwater.
The contract was awarded September 3 to Nine Degrees Construction, LLC, a Sunland Park company, with Wilson & Company, Inc. serving as project engineer and construction manager. Construction is scheduled to take 150 calendar days.
Daniel Carranco served as master of ceremonies. Carlos Valdez, Construction Administration Manager for Wilson & Company, spoke on behalf of the project team.
Residents should expect lane closures, detours and short water shutoffs while the new line is connected. The City will post notices on the project page and through Sunland Park Connect before any planned water outage. The contractor will coordinate with each property owner on driveway tie-ins before pouring.

La Ciudad de Sunland Park inicia la obra en Calle Carrosel y Calle Obregón
SUNLAND PARK, N.M. La Ciudad de Sunland Park inició hoy la obra del Proyecto de Infraestructura Vial, de Drenaje y de Servicios Anapra Fase IV, que reconstruye por completo Calle Carrosel y Calle Obregón. Los vecinos acompañaron al Alcalde Javier Perea, a la Concejal Maria Burciaga, al personal de la Ciudad y al equipo del proyecto bajo la carpa en Mender Park para la ceremonia.
El proyecto reemplaza la superficie actual con nuevo pavimento de concreto de 6 pulgadas sobre base compactada, agrega guarnición y cuneta en ambas calles, y construye banquetas de 4 pies conforme a ADA con entradas de concreto para cocheras. Debajo de la calle se instalarán aproximadamente 1,050 pies de nueva línea de agua de 8 pulgadas con cinco válvulas y dos hidrantes nuevos, se reemplazarán 18 tomas de agua hasta el medidor y se rehabilitarán siete pozos de visita del drenaje. Un muro de piedra y enrocado manejarán el agua de lluvia.
El contrato se adjudicó el 3 de septiembre a Nine Degrees Construction, LLC, una empresa de Sunland Park, con Wilson & Company, Inc. como ingeniero del proyecto y gerente de construcción. La construcción está programada para 150 días calendario.

Los vecinos deben esperar cierres de carril, desvíos y cortes breves de agua mientras se conecta la nueva línea. La Ciudad publicará avisos en la página del proyecto y a través de Sunland Park Connect antes de cualquier corte de agua programado. El contratista coordinará con cada propietario el empate con su cochera antes de colar.
