The Animal Control Division works to keep Sunland Park's pets and neighborhoods safe. Our officers handle animal licensing, respond to animal-related concerns, and help reunite lost pets with their owners. Animal Impound Release Form (CE-AR-01)
Animal Impound Release Form (CE-AR-01) — required to claim an impounded animal. Available in English and Spanish.
To pick up your animal, bring:
• A valid government-issued ID
• Proof of current animal license
• Payment for impound/boarding fees
FEE SCHEDULE

All impound and boarding fees must be paid in full before an animal is released. If the owner/claimant holds a current City of Sunland Park animal license, it may be renewed at time of release. Failure to claim an impounded animal within the redemption period established by municipal code constitutes abandonment and authorizes the City to dispose of the animal in accordance with law.

Code Enforcement / Animal Control Officer
Vincent Byrd brings experience from military and public service to his role as a Code Enforcement Officer. He works to help keep Sunland Park neighborhoods safe, clean, and in compliance by addressing property maintenance, abandoned vehicles, and animal control concerns. Officer Byrd works with residents and businesses to resolve concerns fairly.
Priscilla Miranda
Code Enforcement / Animal Control Officer
Priscilla Miranda helps protect the community through code enforcement and animal services. She responds to animal-related concerns, investigates complaints, enforces city ordinances, and works with residents to promote responsible pet ownership. Her experience in animal shelter operations and field services supports her work in the field.
Alberto Herrera
Code Enforcement / Animal Control Officer
Alberto Herrera has several years of experience in animal control and code enforcement. Certified in New Mexico animal control, he previously helped establish and improve operations for the City of Anthony before joining Sunland Park. He focuses on helping maintain safe neighborhoods while working with residents.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What happens if I don't claim my impounded animal?
If an animal is not claimed within the redemption period set by ACO or codes, the animal is considered abandoned. The City may transport the animal to the shelter in accordance with city law.
How do I license my dog or cat in Sunland Park?
