The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Sunland Park and the region. Widespread thunderstorms are expected Tuesday through Thursday, with a Level 3 of 4 (Moderate) risk of flash flooding. Ground in our area is already soaked from recent rain, so water will run off quickly.

Residents can pick up sandbags at Sunland Park Fire Stations #1 and #2. The bags are handed out empty, which makes them light and easy to take home. Fill each one about halfway with sand or dirt, fold or tie the top, and place them at doorways, garage entries, and anywhere water tends to collect around your home.
