The primary function of the Sunland Park Streets Division is to maintain City streets, alleys, trails, and drainage systems with a focus on avoiding deterioration through timely maintenance. Our tasks include street clean-ups, maintaining city streetlights, trimming trees and mowing on City rights of ways and maintaining City street name signs, stop signs, speed limit signs, and other information sign age.
It is the goal of Public Works staff assigned to the Parks Division to provide clean and safe parks and recreational services, while continually striving to improve upon existing public parks and facilities. The Division partners with the community to promote civic involvement and a strong sense of community pride.
Senior Citizen Center, Public Transportation, and Community Outreach:
The modern and spacious senior facilities are geared to providing for the enjoyment and leisure activities of the community’s mature adult population. Recreational, social, educational, and health-related programs and services are offered in an ambiance that is respectful, inviting, elegant, and warm. Opportunities for growth abound through a wide variety of recreation and social service programs provided by the City contract service provider, New Mexico Family Services. The Sunland Park Senior Center offers unique experiences directed to capturing the hearts and interests of those who visit. Nutritional lunches are provided to those that enroll being served weekdays between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. two suppliers, New Mexico Family Services and Sun Metro, provide Transportation. Each provides transportation to all segments of the Sunland Park population. Sun Metro offers transportation to destinations in town and to El Paso. NMFS supplies on-call services for those persons requiring special or non-scheduled public transportation to destinations in and near Sunland Park.
