We are proud to have Peter Ibarbo as our Public Information Officer.
Mr. Ibarbo comes from a long generation of Hispanic Americans. He is a descendent of the Spanish trader and settler, Antonio Gil Y'Barbo, who founded the historic town of Nacogdoches , Tejas in 1779. Mr. Ibarbo is also a proud NMSU Aggie with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration & Minor in Marketing. Prior to joining the City of Sunland Park, Mr. Ibarbo served as the Southwest Region's Deputy District Director for U.S. Congressman Steve Pearce (New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District).   

Mr. Ibarbo has an extensive background in public relations and has lived in Washington D.C., Mexico City, Chihuahua City, El Paso, Texas, Cd. Juarez and Southern New Mexico. He was part of the marketing team that developed New Mexico's booming industrial area of Santa Teresa. He was instrumental in establishing the state of New Mexico's International Business Accelerator (IBA) Program.  

Mr. Ibarbo has taught courses in Economics, Business, and Strategic Management. He served on the Board of Directors of the Las Cruces Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the New Mexico Border Industrial Association. He is a lifelong member of the Golden Key National Honor Society at New Mexico State University.
