Mr. Ibarbo comes from a long generation of Hispanic Americans. He is a proud descendent of the Spanish trader and settler, Antonio Gil Y'Barbo, who founded the historic town of Nacogdoches , Texas in 1779.  He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business and a minor in Marketing from New Mexico State Univesrity. 

Mr. Ibarbo has an extensive background in Economic Development, Governmental Affairs, International Trade, Communications and Public Relations. He has lived in Washington D.C., Mexico City, Chihuahua City, El Paso, Texas, Cd. Juarez and Southern New Mexico. Prior to joining the Sunland Park team, Mr. Ibarbo served as the Deputy District Director for New Mexico's U.S. Congression District 2. He was part of the marketing team that developed New Mexico's border industrial area in Santa Teresa. He was instrumental in establishing  New Mexico's Small Business Development Center's trade assistance program, the International Business Accelerator, following his ancestor's footsteps facilitating trade.
Mr. Ibarbo taught courses in Economics, Business, and Strategic Management. He is a former Board Member of the Las Cruces Hispanic Chamber of Commerce ,the New Mexico Border Industrial Association and Bronze Partner of the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance.
